man this thread ruled, i wish i read this forum this summer. only time i'm not busy is during the holidays. surprisingly enough, a lot of what had been said in this thread is all true. crazy.
we did only have one guy that could effectively chase cappers in T:V against 5150..., and that was PriO. The rest of the teams were pushovers and it didn't matter, LD wasn't a problem against anyone else.
In fact, no issue was more discussed by myself and cort than trying to find another LD for the team to play against 5150. the plan originally was to have SterIO and projectile. projectile left. harn left... we were lucky to find PriO and mode. mode wanted to play with 5150 and we knew too he was interesting in playing offense... so we were left with one guy. being able to pick up DL was a great thing for us.
It was really really REALLY hard to find good LD in that game. i found it very difficult to keep in front of people like slut and prio, let alone match their talent, as did most of us on d... honestly how many d did we even have? 5 total? that wasn't by our choosing. regardless of cort's own computer situation, he wanted to find someone that he thought was the right fit. it didn't happen.
there was only a handful of people that we could even consider and they were either playing for other teams or simply not that interested. the worst part about T:V was the lack of people who played it. really sucked knowing that there were like 50 total people playing. it was hard to wrap my brain around coming from T1 and T2, the game wasn't great but wasn't horrible.
slut and slam were probably the only guys that know what i'm talking about since we dated back to 98/99 when there were 10's of thousands of people playing t1 base.
that's not to say we would have beaten 5150 anyway, the goal was to beat them, that's what we were trying to do with the resources available and we had a good time doing it. i think from our scrims with them and the first match we had a really good shot at doing it. you go with what you got and that's what we did. it's funny thought that people are forming opinions that i'm sure never played in a real match ever. that's kinda funny to me.

It's a shame c22 didn't pick me up back then. Probably would have beaten 5150.

i think we all wanted to show that t2 classic players were just as good, if not better, than the lot of T1 players.
i know that cort and trem had a vested interest in proving that point. for the most part we did. when we played 5150 with mostly their t1 guys... like when we played them on Fort in that scrim and crushed them, it was clear people like Adren and the old school didn't take to the game and weren't that good. 5150 though has the ability to change their roster as they wish and they soon realized the t2 classic guys were on the up.
that's why all these posts about how guys today would own those 2 teams because of old demos. it wouldn't happen. ever. 5150 and 22 would have crushed. because they are the players that were inventing the ways to play. they would have evolved far faster than other teams if they still played. at least for 18 months.
playing FTM and stuff was fun. seeing all those old names i played against in t1 and just smoking them. kinda cool.

I still remember playing T:V with kore. We would SCRIM 5150 and win. I would get all wet in my lowers. Then they all quit because the game sucked and WOW came out. Who cares about this stupid game.
BTW I was terrible at everything in the game and was probably the reason for the loss.

no put for reals, if 22 had two, maybe even just one, other LD at prios level they would have beaten 5150 at least 2/3.

another ld wouldn't have won it. we dominated with the pod. 22 had no way to compete against that.
