Ok, so I got the video card issue worked out I think. Got an ATi HD 5870 on it's way to me (good deal on the card) but now the issue is that I will need a new PSU to make it go (they suggest 500w with 2 75w 6 pin power connectors to run this.
Given my old ass rig, it's probably time to update anyway.
So here's what I've got:

that motherboard with an E8400 chip. 4 gigs of RAM, the new video card, an Audigy Platnium and 1 hard drive and some fans. Also, standard shit like a DVD burner and a floppy drive.
What PSU should I get that is A.) adequate and B.) relatively inexpensive (think $50 or less)
Show some love, and I might be able to get back to playing some sort of games again.

Save some dough and start from scratch. RAM is cheap, you have a Video card. All your looking at is a Mobo and CPU and you can get a lot of CPU for a little money.

that seems to be where it's headed. Windows on the desktop decided to pretend that it couldn't do any network stuff, so I wiped it out, only to find out that the CD burner on the thing doesn't work and it keeps fucking up installing windows off a USB drive. So yeah, it's looking like a new computer is in the offing.

So the recommendation for the video card wanting a pair of power connections isn't that important? I told you I was in mourning! Sorry, didn't see the Vid Card specs you provided... good thing you caught my mistake though..
