Gungame Ladders.
This goes out to all TWL community members,
We want nothing but to make ths gaming expericane as fun and enjoyable as possible.
With that inmind we can not please everyone. We will however do our best.
The Gungame ladders have been dewindling slowly for a while now. We want to know what it will take to bring people back.
As of right now we are working on getting TWL into sourcemod. This will be more stable and hopefully a better experince.
Would you prefer reverse, regular, or random weapon order?
Would you like to see deathmatch or elimination added?
Basicly we want to know what the community wants. Speak your mind, I will be going over all this and posting my thoughts.
We will be doing what we can to make this a better Gungame experince.
Thank you. Post edited by Wtfaatp at 9/11/2011 7:14:26 PM

Can we actually "speak our minds?" or after we point out what is wrong this gets locked and people get forum bans?

Be reasonable. Don't just say TWL sucks. Or anything along the lines. We try our hardest. This is a free service we provide you would think people would be more understanding.
I ask that you speak you mind. Just make sure you keep yourself in check.

Honestly for me the issue has always been teams following rules. It's just not done a lot. Yes, it is a game. Yes, we play for fun. But is it so hard to read and follow rules?
Other than that, may want to try mixing it up on a weekly or match basis. One week it is standard GG format. The following, random. The week after that, reverse. May liven it up some. All that the server admins would have to do is have multiple setups.

Don't take this as a rip wtfaatp, but I would honestly like to know what happened to all the other threads we've had on this discussion. Were they just deleted? Were they moved/archived to a non-public/admin-only forum?
The main reason I ask is because aside from what you call all the "twl sucks" posts, there was a LOT of honest to goodness constructive criticism and good suggestions in there that, for all we know (its not public or gone, what are we to think?) was just tossed out with the bath water.
Another reason I ask is because this topic of discussion has come up so many times in the past 5 years that, IMO, if nothing's been done to retain/regain players/teams thus far, nothing can be done. If you want my honest opinion, kill the gungame ladder since its basically RAC, OBC and RAC playing matches anymore and open up a soccer mod ladder since that's what's been big in the CSS community lately.
Looking to the future, I'm sure everyone's aware that CS:GO is coming in the next 6-9 months and everyone knows that once that is out the CS and CSS communities will mostly migrate to it at least initially to see what all the hub bub is about. Hopefully the GG/source mod devs will get on that quick and we can start a fresh new GG ladder for CS:GO because honestly until then, BF3 will compromise 99% of the time I'm on my PC anyway and for those that aren't playing BF3 it will be MW3.
TL;DR - CSS GG is as good as dead.

We are already looking into the migration towards CS:GO as it has already been brought to my attention.
The previous threads have been saved and are available to the admins. We will pull out the constructive ideas from them.

@[OBC]Knightro - I know a lot of teams do not follow the rules 100%. However, it is our responsibility as a captains to report these issues. About the mixing it up I would have to talk with the other Gungame ladder admin however I like the idea. I will also have to see what can be done with the way weapon order is handled in SM:GG.
@Shartfire #RAGE - I have only recently become a TWL Ladder admin. I will have to look into the previous threads. While there may be good points in old threads, I would have to reread them and decide what I think is suitable. I have good ideas in which I will state further into this thread after it picks up its feet. I know that most players will be jumping on the Cs:Go ban Wagon. However if we could start a solid base from Cs:S to merge it over we solve half the problem from the start. I know a lot of communities that will adapt the Cs:Go game however I do not see everyone just leaving Cs:s. Even if this is to be a short lived ladder. I would like to see it get off its ass and on its feet. Again, even if we do not get far in Cs:s with the gungame ladders. We can take them into Cs:Go.
I will try and read as much of the old threads that I can find to see what can be done. Post edited by Wtfaatp at 9/13/2011 2:28:57 PM

IMO and I've said this previously, ladders aren't going to draw back many, if any people for the sole reason there is no real objective and they don't end. Thus people get bored and lose the desire to play since it's a never ending carousel. I can really only see you drawing back in a significant number of teams if you were to create a league. Even then with the state of CS:S it will probably still be difficult to draw people back in.

too late i'm afraid... but if you really wanted you could search for my previous posts on the matter >.>
100% agree with Shartfire and Knightro
However, I truly feel that it's much too late to do anything about it. The ladder has been dwindling for a very long time. Those who have moved on to a different game can't even bear to play CSS for very long at this point. As others have said, MW3 and BF3 are due out soon (regardless of which side of the fence you are on there), people generally have something better to look forward to.
CS:GO? My feelings are so mixed on that, I can't even express xD
As for CS:GO mods... realistically it's on a new version of the source engine. ES should ALMOST natively work on it, there's really no reason the current GG5 script wouldn't work except for a couple areas where they address C objects directly, but that's a simple change. All,
I still remember the discussions that we've had regarding gungame in previous threads. I did hear everyones gripes. I have confidence that nightstalker and his staff will do the best they can to restore a working gungame for the community. Sometimes over the forums there is so much to be said and not enough typing time. If you wish to discuss this over vent, we can hold a public meeting where you can join and freely express your opinions. I do not believe in banning people for speaking their minds regardless of how negative it is as long as it stays within respectable limits. ----
Kind Regards,

Really Juvix??!!!!!!
I like how the word "gripes" is used instead of ideas and comments. Apparently that is what TWL thinks of our comments and ideas. Just remember, you guys asked us first. We did not start the threads of what could help the community. We only started new ones when you guys locked or deleted the ones we were already replying to.
I also like the fact that you say “I do not believe in banning people for speaking their minds regardless of how negative it is “as I was banned for 2 weeks recently for expressing my opinion on things. If what I said (just review my post for more information) was overboard then TWL has very thin skin. Bravo!!
This community has given TWL everything they need to succeed in bring the ladders back but you guys sat on your asses too long. You can’t expect everyone to sit and wait for you guys to get your shit in order with all the turnaround with staff and admins. That is not our problem, it is TWL’s problem. I just wished you guys put forth that much effort in change into the ladders as you do to the staffing. Be honest, how hard is it to put new maps in? How hard is it for simple things like that? It takes you guy’s months to do simple tasks that everyday players could do in minutes. This issue makes TWL look like they don’t care at all about the players. Instead we get admins that forfeit matches that have been delayed (agreed to be by both teams) when you only have a hand full of team playing on it. Concentrate your efforts on more important things!
Now, I know not all the ideas and comments can be done but you have to at a minimum make an effort to sort through them and pick the ones you think will work and employ them into the program. By doing nothing at all, you get what you have now, a dead ladder with frustrated players that don’t participate.
One other thing you guys must stop doing is telling the players that if they think they can do better then apply for an admin position. What the fuck is that?
In my opinion, TWL needs to get rid of the ladders they are not currently supporting with change and improvements or take what has been given to them and show us you are really committed to doing something about it.
Prove to us that you are willing to help and stop blowing smoke up our ass, quit deleting or locking threads when a heated discussion is underway (even if you don’t agree with it) and make replies to our post in a timely manner.
This section of the fourms are loaded with examples showing lack of communication on TWL's part so if you need some, just let me know. You have my email!!
I say, show us a reason to come back!!!! Tell us why we should try!!!! Convince us please!!!!!
The other options would be to just ban me and others like before or just delete this reply or whatever TWL normally does to get away from the confrontation like normal.

Captain:
I don't know who banned you previously, but I am the director of CS:S now. I don't know if you remember me back when I was a manager, but I have always listened to the comments and idea's of the community and tried my best to implement them. I understand where you are coming from, and will ensure that the CM is making notable attempts to improve the quality of the ladders within CS:S.
If possible, would I be able to have a meeting with you on vent?

Idk why they don't just drop CS:S from their "supported games" because not one TWL admin gives a flying fuck about CS:S. They won't be able to do anything with CS:GO since they gave up on CS:S.
Read this quickly because I'm sure it will be removed shortly.

At this point I would say that the best course forward would be to give it one last try. I say "Community of the GG world, express what would bring you back and play GG again. Post up the changes you guys want to see again." What can it hurt? If your posting on the forums about GG then your still trying to get shit going and have not given up yet. Might as well try one more time players!!!!
