Generally I've devised designs for map based on notes I have and what I think will work well. Feedback helps a big deal in tuning these efforts into something great- but I thought it might be an interesting idea for the community to have a hand in thinking up the ideas from start to completion.

The end result would be a map you'd really like to play.

So feel free to go nuts- post your ideas here, possibly make some drawings and sketches and post them up here, maybe example videos and images found around the net. You can talk in terms of aesthetic design, the landscape, the layout of the bases, anything that comes to mind. Keep in mind that I will only be using textures that come with the game in order to keep it auto-downloader-friendly.

The more effort you put into this, the more I'm going to listen to you. And I'm not just going to remake a base from another map. If the only thing you tell me is "Remake X but with Y base" don't expect to get what you want.

On the other hand, if you go in depth about what you liked in certain maps, how that could relate to a new map, communicate your idea clearly, stay engaged in the conversation, and offer some rough sketches- you will be listened to.

1.
A siege map with the Recalescence base for the defending side.

Switch Gens in the current gen room. The switch where the flag is located.


2.
The map sanctuary redone where the flag is in the open area down the hill where the repair pack spawns. The flag is surrounded by a small forcefield which the base gens power.

Only Havocs are available.

My map "Reynard" is somewhat inspired by Crossfire. And I'd consider it fairly straightforward- so check that one out.

I agree with simple though, that is good.

Enigma didn't post it up here, but he had an idea for a cluster-style map with a flag over lava (but with no stand, so not possible to llama) with no inventory stations but with packs and weapons up on a hill close to where you spawn.

That map looks a lot like Confusco, or at least seems like a less dramatic Confusco.

Yeah, hills not meant to be remotely as tall as confusco. It's really meant to be 5v5 or 7v7 at most and flags arn't equidistant from spawn either.

where would the spawns be relative to the flag stands? same as confusco, or behind the stands, or something else? also just one spawn sphere?

behind the stand like a typical map. elevated spawns to speed up initial momentum. I'm really thinking of this like spawn ctf, super easy to ski with bowls to turn and slalom. The main difference is lack of rifle and limited mines and maybe 1 shield pack per side. defense will probably scavenge except for epack.

I dunno, just something i was thinking about. Was wondering if it would be fun or there would be a good niche for it since 7man is dead and it's very difficult to get a PU rolling.

This definitely does seem like a niche map for spawn. While I love spawn, I don't know if making just one spawn-style map would be logical. But for the record, I do think the design is sound.
