Okay so again with the big "IF's" but what format does everyone want to play provided TWL does in fact decide to host ET Competition again in the near future.
I'm talking about 5v5 or 6v6 and limits to mines, classes, restrictions etc.
DISCUSS! GO GO GO!

I'm cool with either one, but I think 5v5 might be a better idea. Most everyone has been doing 5v5 for the past few years, but a lot of people that might be coming back will have only played 6v6 probably. Still I think 5v5 would be better as it's easier to get enough people obviously, you can scrims euros, etc.

As much as it would be nice to get 6o6 going, 5o5 is probably the more likely option and also creates less forfeits/chances of people not showing up/ringers etc.
As bliss said it's also the current format in europe (with their configs)

I agree with the general sentiment of preferring 6v6, but thinking 5v5 would be the most practical choice.
The simplest would just be to run 5v5 with the "global config" that both CB and ESL use, and a similar ruleset. It might be fun to take those configs and remove prone delay/shove too.

Oh yeah, please don't put prone delay in the TWL config. Hate that so much.

I'd love 7v7 again but 5v5 is the obvious choice.
Also, as bliss said,, "please don't put prone delay in the TWL config"

Keep the chatter going. I'm back from Vacation and aggressively monitoring the situation.

OFF TOPIC: You better better be monitoring aggressively!!
ON TOPIC: 5v5 sounds more realistic, doubt there will ever be 7v7 again and slim to none chance 6v6 comes back so just stick with the norm.

Do we have official map pool/config?
Also more updated rules about ET would be a good idea.

The existing "global" 5v5 config, used by both ESL and CB, would be fine - a version of that without prone delay would be nicer. They have the class/mine/rnade/etc. limits all set pretty well.
Map pool could be supply/adlernest/goldrush/radar/braundorf/ice. Oasis might work, but might also be a bit large for 5s, haven't scrimmed it lately enough to know.
The existing/old TWL rules for things like stacking/exploits/ect. should still be fine.

You forgot frostbite. That pretty much should be a given in the map pool. Its been a classic in competition.

I'm looking into using something very close to what CB and ESL are using in terms of the Global Configs, since most NA players currently playing in the EU are already used to them and most EU based teams would be apt to join if were using similar settings.
Does that mean 100% that I'm sold on just being EURO in terms of settings/configs/etc? No. I'm just using it as ground work. Its up to everyone here to determine what they would like to see and voice there opinion on the matter.
Also I don't have a map pool yet. I'll work on getting that up tonight or tomorrow. Post edited by Virus047 at 8/1/2011 11:58:04 PM

If you absolutely can't have no prone delay, then I would rather you remove prone altogether so I don't get stuck in prone. Lol

Prone delay was inserted for the whiners who cannot adjust and aim vertically. Since they use as low an m_pitch as they can they just cannot adjust to vertical aiming. If everyone just used default m_pitch there would be no complaining and prone delay would never have been created.

A thought: though making 5v5 the default format, allow both teams to play 6v6 if they want. Wouldn't hurt anything, and for older teams with the roster leeway it would be fun to play 6s again. Not as the official format, but more of a "if both teams agree to it, we won't penalize you for it" kind of deal.
