Cars also kill people...therefore any car that has the ability to exceed the bare bones speed limit (70mph) should also be limited by this same argument.
After all, a consumers desire to have choices and/or what they actually want needs to take a backseat to collective safety!!!
This country has changed so much in the past two decades it baffles me....and now I see why.
It seems that every excessive and irritating new piece of regulatory legislation has some singularly myopic case study behind it.

And the response about magazine capacity. It takes a good shooter a split second to reload a magazine. The capacity issue is moot. Most people who buy the 30 round magazines buy them for target shooting. I've sold plenty in my lifetime and none of those people ended up being criminals.
You think hi cap magazines are bad? What do you think of NFA weapons? Do you even know what they are?
If you hate on hi cap magazines you will probably hate NFA weapons. You know machine guns and weapons with silencers?
How many crimes do you think have been committed with legally owned NFA weapons? And by who?

My "representative" Lousie Slaughter (NY-28th) has proposed legislation banning high-capacity bladed knives. She would like to see no knife sold with a blade longer than 2 inches.
My neighboring "representative" Chris Lee (NY-26th) has proposed legislation forcing the change of the violent sounding "Louise Slaughter" to "Louise Flowers."
My senator Charles Schumer has proposed legislation banning the language "knee-jerk reaction" and suggested we replace it with "knee movement response."

I was waiting for that argument. I for one am not going to try to tackle the shooter unless I have a tactical advantage.
In a moment like this, tunnel vision ensues. Not many people are aware of how to react to this situation. The magazine capacity argument is not valid as nobody knows what the outcome could have been. It's one of those things for anti gun people to cling too.
It's merely a game of WHAT FUCKING IF?
If he had two 17 round magazines, or 15 round magazines, and reloaded nobody would mention 33 rounders. They would mention that you shouldn't be allowed to own more than one magazine.

Further musing about the magazines capacity versus the potential damage it can inflict in the hands of a lunatic leads me to point out that a lower capacity weapon may have resulted in fewer injured or dead people in this one particular instance as it occurred. Not an instance where a trained shooter is reloading video-game style, or where people are running into a hale of gunfire to tackle someone.
