Never had a problem with it on my end and I'm running:
2 Gigs RAM
XFX 9800 GTX+ GFX Card
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor
I can still run the game fine with no hiccups whatsoever. Alot of people just don't update their systems as much as they should. Of course a system thats 10 years old will not run something like Crysis, Battlefield, or AA3.

i have an i7 and dual 5870's and i cant play the game whatsoever. I have an 18 mb dl and 1 mb up and i just lag all over the place. It looks like i get about 5 - 10 fps. Dont have the slightest idea what could be wrong. AA2 is almost as bad. I dont have any problems playing other games. Just AA gives me trouble. Any ideas?

Are you attempting to run the game in SLI mode? That's for both AA 2 and 3.

Try to run it without being in SLI mode. Another system thats in this household is running an i7 920, 6 gigs of ram and a 4870x2 and AA3 runs perfect on his with 26 people on Alley.
