The Regular Season has not yet even started but thought it would be a good idea to get some discussion going on how teams would like the playoffs to look like.
Currently we are planning that TOP 4 teams from both Divisions in NA and EU will advance to the playoffs. Making it 8 teams in both regions, format would be a single elimination playoffs.
Any suggestions on the playoff maps? We tried few times in AA2 that both teams had the opportunity to pick their own preferred maps for playoff matches. Is this something that could work with AA3 ? Please feel free to comment here anything you like regarding the playoffs

It would be interesting that both teams choose one map for 6 rounds and if game is a tie after 12 rounds, there is OT map what has been decided and announced by the TWL staff. Both teams has to announce their preferred map 4-5 days before match. If match is not in tie after 12 rounds, ofcourse OT map is not played.

6 rounds a map? Eh...I don't dig that. I would rather have a prefered map selection. The team with the higher rating gets to pick. Championship match should not be selected by a team. Those are my thoughts. ____________________________________

That sounds good too. There would be some more advantage to be higher rank after regular season.

I'd like to recommend the idea of two teams picking their own preferred maps, eh, sounds fair enough. But instead of 6 rounds per a map, I would rather play 12 full rounds per a map. Altogether that makes two matches, 12+12.
If the teams ended up with a 1-1 tie (I wouldn't like to count the round wins) there would be the 3rd map (chose by TWL). Should they play just a one single round (or more if it ends as a tie, like in the TWL Ladders), in the OT map? It sounds a bit of cruel, eh.
Anyhow, it'd sound pretty long match if they played 12 rounds in the OT map (and kept playing until the winner is clear).
On the other hand, in this kind of competition it would be cool if the teams just keep playing and playing to be sure, which is the better team..
In a nutshell I'd say let's play the play-offs in 2 maps (every team can select one) and 12 rounds per a map. If it ends as a tie, eh well, TWL Staff has still something to think :-)
Btw, will there be any change to play a match between the winner of NA and EU (and could the peeps watch the game online somehow?) or are some problems - like ping issues, time zones etc - too big steps to take?

Unless we find a server provider in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, I think the lag should be too much...

Something like this..

Best out of 3?
1 match on a NA server.
1 match on a EU server.
1 match on a middle ground server if needed for OT.
Do a few practice rounds on each server to get a feel for what kinda lead is needed. I could see this being quite a good time. Good opporuntiy for the best EU players to get to know the best NA players. I guess we could see who all would be interested and go from there. Set it up so that a person can only vote once. Either pick 1 person or their dream team from the interested list. Tally up the vote's.
As you can tell, I havn't put much thought into it, so let me know what you think. I will make a duplicate post on AA3 forums. Feel free to copy and paste this on other forums to get the word out. I should be able to get at least 1 sponsor for a prize. If this takes off, I would think this could be great advertisment for server providers.
It'd be nice to know if guys in the TWL AA3 staff were interest to organize something like this
In addition if any NA teams are interested to play, feel free to spam our shoutbox!

Anyway, about the playoffs, what kind of parameters does the league continue? How many teams from each divisions continue to playoffs?
I could guess 4 from both, so there will be 8 teams and the next games are the quarter finals (talking 'bout EU, we're resting this week). Will it be like: A1-B4, A2-B3, A3-B2, A4-B1?

The announcement has been delayed somewhat, we're sorry about that. Playoff details should be posted later today, matches are scheduled shortly after that.
And yes, 4 from both.
