Right now I switched my server over to ctf for the clan I just joined so we can practice. It is extremely easy to switch back.

The 5v5 arena ladder is now open for signups. Now is the time to really start finishing up the ruleset you guys want to see on TWL. I'm seeing a lot d00ds wanting soldier/pathfinder only and some d00ds wanting some more classes available (sentinel/raider). It also looks like no one wants heavy armor classes available, so at least that's something that is agreed upon for the moment. Let's figure this out pals. :o

Thanks again Hybrid for getting this going.
I still say we stick to the consesus of Path/Soldier only.
I really dont mind if we have maybe one Raider at most.
The heavies eliminated.
Only can use inventory one time only during round.
The spawn limit should be 15 for each team I guess but that can vary. (Considering 5v5 you cant too many spawns or too less)
2 rounds to win map.
2 maps to win match.
Tactical Strikes, Inv Drops, Orb Strikes all disabled.

I'm actually all for a more open concept to classes. While chain spamming heavies can be annoying, I think a limit of one heavy per team is enough to turn it from overkill annoying piss-off strat to a tactical centre of your team. Basically having one heavy would allow teams to sort of centre around and defend their heavy who can do massive damage to the enemy team, but the enemy always has the option of avoiding their heavy and going for a more draw them out approach. The only map I really find heavies annoying and hard to avoid on is air arena.
-EDIT- at least this is how I feel for 5v5 arena. A 3v3 PTH/SLD arena would also be cool.
Really as far a classes go I'd say a limit of 1 heavy (either game enforced with 1 of the three heavy classes or simply player managed), and probably no infs as they really don't lend much to arena and just add annoyance.

I'm sorry man but Heavies have no place in Arena.
They were never involved in arena.
Heavy Armors have always been meant for CTF period.
They just take too long to kill and it ruins the game.
Everyone basically agrees there should be no heavies

Since I had a T1 #1 2v2 3v3 5v5 clan and also was undefeated on the 1v1 duel ladder in T1 that makes me ladder admin by your logic there YWontUDie... Yes you be mad

And btw with the way Arena is setup, and the silly maps in T:A, Arena is pointless, there really is no strategy to the maps at all right now. there needs to be more variety and more strategy to actually make me want to play. Also the armor types have to be limited just like in T1 and weapon types limited for true competition. How do I get into this? I wanna play with somepeople/ do some comps even though Im not vet.. By the way, with anyone who plays raider do you use different weaps that the default ones cuz they dont seem too special.. anyways Id like to get down on this.

Ladders generally will open for a new game on TWL when there are at least 20 teams signed up. No matter what happens, I don't think this is really possible for arena in its current state heh (tnx hirez). I would like to settle with 12 teams but I can probably cave in at 10 with the hopes that more teams will form once the ladder takes off.

I agree with the general consensus that arena should be limited to soldier/path, perhaps with the exception of a single raider per team. Call-ins disabled, default spawn time and ticket amount.

I'd like an emphasis on Soldier/Pathfinder with an option for one Raider and one Sentinel per team; plasma cannon banned, obviously.
Default ticket count seems fine: personally, I prefer eliminating as much chance as possible from matches. I'm not sure about respawn timers. Setting them too high (e.g., 10-15 seconds) would provide too much of a disadvantage for the spawning team. Post edited by OmniNept at 7/11/2012 3:34:38 AM

Strategy is what you do with what you're given. IRL war, commanders don't say "oh, that terrain isn't good for strategy, guess we wont fight." Adaptability is the sign of a good team.

Calling upon this thread for 5v5 arena was a mistake on my part. Smaller formats like 2v2 & 3v3 are what the game needs.
Once this issue is cleared up we can re-look at what rule-set needs to be implemented for sake of skill and entertainment value.
