Thanks, I'll check that recipe out when I crack open the bottle. Glanced at the package to see a few recipes on the back, but didn't really take notice. One said to add a lime.

Originally posted by: William T. Sherman There's a restaurant bar in Manhattan that me and my friends like to call "beer heaven." Their Sunday brunch special is $20 for a meal and unlimited American draft beers. They have a massive selection that's pretty well curated and different from week to week. All kinds of ales, white wheat beers, dunkelweizens, lagers, and whatever is in season. There's a 90 minute limit on the special, but most of the girls there are pretty cool with letting you stay longer. One time we were there for five hours just drinking and tasting all the beers.
Does American draft beers mean any beer brewed in America? Or does it just mean your standard Bud, Coors etc.?
Beers brewed in America. Bud and coors aren't even on the menu, it's all micro brews.
Good, it turns it from a "meh who cares" deal to an "OMG AWESOME" deal.

I would go get them. Ginger beer is kind of hard to find so most of the time I just use ginger ale and don't bother with limes unless they just happen to be around, but if you have real ginger beer then you should make the actual cocktail rather than just half ass it.
Edit: Just saw the timestamp. You're prolly drunk by now. Post edited by William T. Sherman at 1/30/2012 10:21:25 PM

Nah. Was trying to get a ladyfriend over to drink with me, but that will have to be another night.
So I'll pick up some limes to do it right.

Not beer, but I might make some of this for an upcoming poker night.
Go figure... a liter of 190 proof everclear is $12 here, while a .750 liter of 151 proof is $20.

Beers I tried tonight:
Cane and Ebel Red Rye Ale
Messiah Nut Brown Ale
Mendocino Oatmeal Stout
Bell's Best Brown Ale
All we're very good. I liked Messiah the best but it was also the last one I had so it probably doesn't mean much. Post edited by Re!gn at 2/2/2012 2:01:07 AM

Sam Adams spring lager is already available. I bought a six pack for the super bowl. Is it me or are they switching their seasonal beers out sooner than they used to? It's the middle of winter and their spring beer is already available, and I remember I couldn't buy the pumpkin ale by thanksgiving. Shit's bananas yo.

I recently read online that American Bud isn't half as good as Canadian made Bud (American source). We may have a different recipe or brewing processes. I'm not sure if this is true but, I bought some as a test and I got to say, it's not so bad.
Also, unless Canada's version of Rolling Rock is made worse than the American version, wow, is this not the most watery, shittiest beers I have ever tasted in my entire life?! Isn't it popular in the states as a hipster beer?
Here in Canada, we true beer drinkers know that American micro/mid size brewers are making the best beer in the entire world right now, but Rolling Rock is total, utter crap in our country.
My American beer pick, McMenamins Hammerhead Ale. It's not that highly rated, but I like the flavour.

Entirely possible.......different water, different brewing temperature, different climates would very much produce a different tasting beer.
They have been saying the same thing about bread for ages too. That even if you stole Boudin's 150 year old "mother loaf" and took it, to say New York, that it would quickly start to taste different........
http://www.boudinbakery.com/Boudin_SF
Rumor has it, since I haven't confirmed this one for myself, that there was once a Belgian beer company, that specialized in Abbey Ales, who changed the wooden cedar roof off their brewery only to notice that the beer no longer tasted the exact same way anymore. So, they painstakingly replaced it, plank by plank, until they got their old beer back again.
Also, unless Canada's version of Rolling Rock is made worse than the American version, wow, is this not the most watery, shittiest beers I have ever tasted in my entire life?! Isn't it popular in the states as a hipster beer?
Hard to say......the original "American" Rolling Rock got acquired back in 2006 by Anheiser Bush, the old brewery was shut down, and it was ultimately relocated to a facility in Newark.
http://offthebroiler.wordpress.com/2006/07/29/goodbye-rolling-rock/
People that I know who drink it, since I also never enjoyed the stuff, said that it never tasted the same after that. That the water was somehow different and it lacked what used to make it enjoyable to them.
Since I also think it is way too watery.......I have a hard time drinking that style of beer anymore. Drink one Stones Ruination and it will do as the label says....it will ruin your nation and your palette for light pilsners.
