The app is not perfect, it records some DLC and addons as "games" and they say not played

"Games" not played include
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package 0
Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad Beta 0
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade 0
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm 0
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Winter Assault 0
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold Edition 0
Zombie Driver: Summer of Slaughter DLC
So 6 of the 18 are not games and will always show as not played. One is a beta when I play the regular release so I won't be playing that beta ever.
Then there are the are 4 or 5 Half Life and mods that I played retail. For some reason they don't register the play time I had on them.
Also a couple for F2P games show as games I own and played because I played them just to earn free stuff during the last STeam Event, then deleted them.
There are a few games I own and will never play. They came as part of a bundle sale. The bundle was significantly cheaper than buying just the games I wanted so I ended up with games I don't want.

From what I've read skimming comments, Steam does weird tracking with DLC... seems that it gets added to the main game instead.
Thread here, posted by the creator.
Maybe he'll add a feature to sort out the DLC to get more accurate stats.

Dude, you haven't played Dawn of War? You are so missing out. DoW 1 and it's expansions are phenomenally good.

Still had keys left as of a few min ago.
Edit: And they're gone.
Edit 2: Played for a couple hours with IrishRebel last night... pretty fun game!

They are now saying the 28th. Apparently the last two sales started on the last Thursday in June which will be the 28th.
There are some rumor threads out there with expected pricing. Sales are down and games are expected to go cheap. As in the OP, don't buy if its not the Daily Deal. Wait and if its never the Daily Deal buy on the last day.
Buy some games to trade. You can buy every game as a "Gift" and leave it in your inventory until you either want to play it, trade it, or gift it. Buy all the games you get as gifts, play one at a time. When you realize you have 100 you will never play you can now can trade / sell / gift them.

Rumors are now that the sale isnt this week and could be next week or the week after. This is coming from some indie game developers off steam forums.

It was more like rumor of a rumor. A guy said he heard from a developer that Steam asked him to push back launching a small title from mid-July to end of July. Immediate hypothesis - Steam sale will be late.
And just to reiterate, that was not from the developer, but a guy who talked to or knows or possibly knows a guy who talked to a developer who simply said he was asked to push back a game release.
It could mean the Steam Summer event will run longer and they don't want a new release being forced to discount or competing with the Summer Sale.
We should know by tomorrow around 5 PM Eastern at the latest.

For some reason I remember it starting late in the day last year. Or maybe the rumors of it being mid-July are true? At the point in time, 1:30 Eastern, no joy.
