It worked for Obama because a lot of liberals were (and some still are) excessively idealistic about what a President can actually do. Instead of a weak President changing America......America's industrial complex ultimately changed him.
The radical base of the GOP is around 20% of the US population.
The radical base of the Democratic Party is also around 20% of the total US population.
Over 40% of all American's didn't vote at all last time....
The other 20% are swing voters that could go either way.
That's my experience looking at the polls anyways.
Trying to appeal to the heart and minds of the radical 20% of the liberals, who might vote on someone purely because of race/gender, is outright illogical. At this point it is like trying to trick somone like Cobalt into voting for the GOP. It isn't going to happen, not now, not ever.........so pandering to this mentality is not just an act of futility, but will ultimately disenfranchise even more people than it will attract.
Sarah Palin, despite being female, scared far more people from voting for an ancient ass McCain than it attracted new female votes IMO.
The GOP should be appealing to logic, ration, and sound policy.........not race.......not trickery.....if they want to attract a winning candidate. Very few people, besides the entrenched ideological blow hards, are enthusiastic about Obama at this exact moment.

Ron Paul would be crushed by the media quicker than Cain. They only leave him alone because they like how he pees in the Republican pool. The first chance he had to pee in the Democrat Pool and he'd get the same crushing spotlight and be gone in a heartbeat.
2012n is the first US election that I'll be voting in in about 30 years. Obama is my man, not because he's any good but under him the country will spiral downhill faster. The sooner the US hits rock bottom the sooner the rest of the world will be better off.

You're point is Herman Cain would be fine as long as no one listened to him speak. Once he got the stage and opened his mouth it was the medias fault people now heard Cain's tarded thought process.
Ron Paul can talk about Libya, he knows who the president of Uzbekistan is and how to say the name of the country, Ron Paul has a specific plan not a rip off of Domino's 5-5-5 deal, Ron Paul knows the US doesn't buy oil from Iran and that trying to criple Iran by not getting their oil makes no sense in that case, Ron Paul knows China has had nukes since the 60's, he has a good understanding of the constitution.
Ron Paul graduated from medical school and became a doctor, a surgeon in the Air Force. Herman Cain is not sure if he has a BS or a BA in Math.
Ron Paul's biggest issue is that he is too smart and people who like Herman Cain are so stupid they feel inferior and are afraid of Ron Paul.
