Just moved to Tallahassee from Western NY a few weeks ago.

Why is everyone so slow? Any store you go to these people walk around like zombies.

I went to the deli, to get a half pound of salami. There was 8 kids behind the counter doing nothing. They told me to come back in 20 minutes because they are backed up and only have 1 slicer running. There was about 5 slicers that i could see.

I went to the local convenient store to buy a 6 pack. The teller literally sat there for 10 minutes (at least) having a conversation with the couple in front of me. When i finally said something they acted like i was a rude asshole.

A kid at burger king charged me $1,200.00 for a 12 dollar purchase. I had to wait 2 hours for a manager to come in and fix it.

The Uhaul drove down, you are supposed to be able to drop them anywhere. U-hauls are rented. But the one closest to me... no the guy got on the phone and made 3 obvious fake phone calls and i had to drop it off 20 miles away at a bigger one.

Does anyone have any kind work ethic in the south?

May update on week 3. though i hope not.

It's Florida, the closer you get to the equator the slower people get. Also, take your Yankee ass back up north, we don't care how you do it there.

What in the fucking everliving hell possessed you to do such a stupid thing?

Job required you to move there? Quit.
Spouse wanted to move to be closer to family? Divorce.
Got convicted of some horrible crime and have to serve time in Florida? Flee the country, or die trying.

I mean really...Tallahassee? REALLY?

Hey I say it's the eastern states all around. I've lived in Minnesota for 14 years after moving here from Texas and God, the people in the mid-west are just the nicest group of people you'll ever meet, from "Minnesota Nice" to "Southern Hospitality" in Texas. Move out here!

Maybe cost of living?
Property is cheap.
Taxes are nothing.
People pay more in property taxes in NY/NJ in a year then most people in the south pay for their mortgage payments for the year.
Buying a home is about 1/4 the cost.
The beach.
The warm weather.
Better lifestyle.

Take your pick

yeah, peeps from Minn are nice, but they are slow too. Only diff is Minn folks have a 3/4ers of a brain, FL peeps have half a brain, the smart ones.

Because you moved to Tallahassee , if you moved farther west you wouldn't notice that. If you lived in South Florida you'd be stuck in traffic, then going 90 on the highway only to get stuck in more traffic. Just keep in mind that all those damn old Yankees move to south florida...

Florida is not the South.

I bet there are lots of places in the country on par with cost of living in Tallahassee, that have the benefit of not being in Florida.

Ok, valid point. But as in the above point, there are other places in the country with access to beaches.

That one I wouldn't agree with, but I'm biased.

Even though I grew up in Alabama (although not anywhere near Florida border), I've never understood the allure of Florida. Heat, humidity, and too many rednecks and old people.

Oh well, to each his own I guess.

Florida is like the armpit of America anymore. Seems like a ton of trash from NY, Ohio and Jersey end up down there. No thanks

You jokers need to understand that Florida is a big state and you really have to divide it up because there are differences in each of the regions.

The Keys are kind of their own deal.
South Florida is not someplace I'd really want to live.
Central Florida and North Florida have more in common and then you have the Panhandle which is very different and more what I'd consider the south than Southern Florida.

Escambia to Bay county here is primarily a republican stronghold due primarily to the Military presence here.

Tallahassee's problem is its the State capitol and the home of the Criminoles

as total carnage was staying it's a lot different the panhandle is too close to the bible belt in that ways of how it goes, you will eventually get used to the idea that nothing happens fast and nothing happens with any urgency...when i lived in Louisianan for a while i got so mad at this gas station attendant who as on the phone who would not ring my stuff up i walked away FILLED MY ARMS and doped it on the counter and walked out.

Yep. Born, raised, and lived there until I graduated from college. Although, I wanted to go to the University of Alabama (Huntsville or Tuscaloosa), but because of some family circumstances, I ended up going to the University of North Alabama instead.

In retrospect, it wasn't a BAD place to grow up. Small town, not much crime, no gangs, drugs, etc. Decent university right in town. But it just wasn't for me. Even as a kid, I knew I didn't want to stay there, not just in 'Bama, but in that part of the country. I think I was always meant to be in the mountains, which is why I really love Colorado.
