Hell yeah. I owe 8 grand on my car with a minimum payment of 300 per month. I'm now paying 600 per month and paid 1000 two months ago. It should be paid off by February at the latest. Once that's done, I'm going to roll that 600 per month into what I'm already paying on my student loan, and will be paying 900-1000 per month on that. By the time the car is paid off, I should only owe somewhere around 20k on my student loan, probably less, and I'll get it knocked out in no time. I am setting money aside on top of all of this and will probably make a few large (3-5k) payments on the student loan along the way on top of the 1000 or so each month.
I can't fucking stand debt.

I currently have $4k socked away in a savings account and another $3k in an IRA (note: I'm 24 so I'm letting compound interest do its work).
Once I get a better job I'll start sockin away some cash, but I do like to enjoy life, so I don't plan on being a save, save, save, and not have anything person. I like to do weekend excursions and enjoy time off. Granted, I'm thoroughly enjoying the fruits of not having any debts and I don't plan on getting into unsecured debt for as long as possible.

I was just talking to SS about this. Thats why I use my quarterly retail bonus money instead of a larger chunk of money per week or month.
Also, once a year I will take out a 401k loan and buy myself something. Next year is a plane ticket and spending cash to the Philippines. Im gonna go spread my seed all over the fucking place.
In 100 years the Philippines will be full of blonde hair green eyed filipinos

You gonna snitch on me?
My money, low interest rate(Like 3%). Better than any bank loan. Would you rather I use a CC and pay a high interest rate? I can take out 50 percent of whats in there and I make sure that the amount will never be more than 5k.
I can also dictate how much per week I would like to pay back........

I get what you are saying but at anytime, I can only take out half of the cash I have anyway. So if anything, half of what is in there is still getting 5 percent.
You are splitting hairs anyway because it is still better than using a credit card and paying 7-15 percent depending on your CC. Also, if I took out a cash loan on a CC ,what kind of charges would I get per month on 5k? I can take out a 5k loan at 3 percent and make anywhere from a 10 a week payroll deduction to whatever. What I do is pay enough per week so the loan is done in 12-14 months and never go over a certain amount. I would rather do that than risk a late payment or if something were to happen to me, I would not suffer the wrath of a CC company or Bank.

So you have no credit?
I never touch my my 401k money. I laughed at my buddy who just did. It generally isn't there for pleasure and vacations. But to each their own.
You essentially have to pay back your own fucking money, with interest. If that's how your going to finance your vacations each year start a savings account, get part of your check direct deposited, don't touch it, and call it a fucking day.

I used to have a few CC's along with Best Buy and a HFC revolving credit line and then when I broke up with my ex fiance, I was stuck with these cards that were in my name but I could not afford to pay. I ended up with some seriosuly shitty credit.
Im also terrible with spending and saving money. The 401k loan is ideal for my irresponsable behaviour.
Still would rather borrow my own money a 3percent than a CC at 7-15............makes sense to me. It keeps me in line.

My credit still hurts from when I was 19-21. Back then I just kept using CC's, buying cars, and living on credit. Bad idea.
Now I have a few CC's. Don't touch em. My credit still sucks. I need to pay a few things off in order to buy a house. I still have a reposession to pay off.
It fucking sucks.

He's right tho, youre still shooting yourself in the foot... Or wallet... Depending on how you look at it... Setting the money aside via direct deposit or something along those lines... Use it at the end of the year for a vacation... Also helps to do that instead of medical insurance... Set your own fund up and roll it over at the end of the year... _____________________________________________________________

I have a HSA along with my healthcare plan. I only keep about a grand in it, but my deductible is only 1000. I opened it because I can get a $750 credit every year for passing a health screening.

Pillbug. What do you do? I've often thought about investing but don't know a thing about it. I'd like to start but it would be a minimal amount. I worry those places around here would laugh at me.
I also don't know enough to get on etrade or whatever.
