Anyone who has ever flown in an airplane since 9/11 can tell you that.
So the school had no responsibility? The coach? What seems like a blanket policy is your statement that just Sandusky is at fault

Yes.......unless the school, the other coaches, and the State of PA also fucked underage children.

Come on Mock, they are punishing the school because the President, VP, AD and the Head coach KNEW about what Sandusky was doing and did really NOTHING about it as early as 1998. I mean, they knew about a very serious sex crime that was being commited by a guy and did shit about it.

So IMO, they are just as guilty because they turned a blind eye. And sicne they were in charge of the school, the school as a whole is gonna get pusnished. Very simple....

And since they were in charge and the FB program at most schools like PSU make all the money, this is what happens.

I was going to post this but resisted. Tried of all these same arguments. Penn state's upper administration covered this shit up to protect the football program.

The NCAA has to send a signal to everyone else to not to do it or look what happens, worse than what would have originally happened.

Everything Penn St got was fair and appropriate.

Punishment i can agree on. But removing wins is any college sport is just flat out ignorant.
The only people they are hurting are the football players that played all those years. You can't erase history. It's as simple as that.
Funny that the NCAA mentioned for schools to be careful who they essentially give power to, but then they & go do this themselves? Pot, kettle, black!
Do they remove the losses? Do they remove any wins or losses from the schools that played PSU in that 14 year span? I honestly don't know if they do all that, but i'm guessing no.
The NCAA was expressing something to the schools that nobody like a football coach should hold so much power, but they shake their fist as if to erase history? Ignorant! College sports of anything is becoming a disgrace.

20 scholarships per year? I believe that's incorrect. They receive 20 scholarships per year, they lose 5 per season for 4 years, totalling 20. Maybe i'm wrong though.

Side note, only 2 players decided to play elsewhere.

I also believe that players will rally around this & i think you will see better than anticipated teams for the next few years in Penn St. football.
Obviously not going to bowl games but i guarantee most of the football players will play their hearts out in honor of PSU.

Nope 20 per year. It's punishing those not affiliated with the football program. I'm assuming it's 20 sports (as opposed to the academic) scholarships per year. It should have been knock down the total amount of football scholarships to 10% of what the average amount of scholarships given are. i would hope that 10% number would be like 1-3.

Lots of innocent people are gonna suffer Stones but it has to be done anyway. They were reps of the school, they ran the school, the school will suffer because they hired these clowns. Same if a company has its Presidents and higher ups doing unethical shit and they get sued, go out of business and people lose their jobs. Collateral damage. I doubt many people at the school are gonna have nightmares and need years of counseling over this. Maybe if I was assraped by some old man in the showers, I would.........

Its for the kids Stones, for the kids

It didnt have to be done the way it was done. Presidents, managers, etc. fuck up all the time all over the place. But the rest of the company doesn't get fallout from it. They are a dime a dozen in any field.
Stop mentioning kids, i don't believe any of them are kids any longer.
& it's not for the kids. Do you really think the "kids" want all of PSU to be punished like this? I would bet no.
I wonder why nobody has asked those people that question? Because they are afraid they might say no, we don't need to punish the school, just the ones involved.

some of the punishment does not fit the crime. there seems to be an inordinate amount of punishment affecting innocent students rather than the executive and admiinistrative portions of the U that fucked up.

Considering this massive over reaction.......I can see why they now tried to cover it up.

Who knew a century worth of legacy and achievement could be erased and tarnished off of ten minutes worth of one sick fucks pedophilia?

Assuming Paterno knew the exact details, which I'm still not sure of, I guess he should have fired Sandusky before this ever had the chance to go public.

I guess that's the un-moral of the story.

It's essentially 20 a year. Football is allowed to have 85 scholarship players, penn state is allowed to have 75, and then 65 scholarship players the remaining few years. Meaning they will be missing 20 scholarship players per season.

I'll invoke my own ignorance a little on this topic (since I haven't been following it as closely as you guys).........

but do we know for sure that Joe and all of the rest of these people "knew" the excruciating details of what Sandusky was doing?

Or was it just partially assumed (insert distasteful innuendo pun here).......and left up to other people to handle?

I'm along the lines of this........

Punish this Sandusky prick by cutting off his dick in a public castration.

Punish perhaps the President for concealing a crime, assuming you can prove "he knew" the details of what Sandusky was doing.

Dig up and piss on Joe Paterno, if you can prove, he knew the same.........

But don't punish more innocent people for the sole actions of ONE person.

Again, I am openly ignorant and obtuse to the exact details of who knew what when. I haven't been following this as closely as a lot of you guys have (largely because I didn't care to before now).

The freeh report. It was an investigation that penn st commissioned, and freeh is a former FBI agent. Read through millions of emails and thousands of pages and wrote a 400 page conclusion.

Also penn st worked out this deal with the NCAA, basically admitting guilt as well.

Check the report, you'll see paterno and the rest of the ad were all a bunch of pricks.

It will be interesting to see exactly how they established that conclusion........thanks for the details!!
